What is Positive Reinforcement?
Training your dog with treats and praise! Enrolling yourself and your dog in positive reinforcement training classes goes beyond teaching your dog to sit and stay. It's about improving communication between you and your dog and building a stronger bond. Learning the basics this way will also build the foundation for additional training and curb the development of behavioral problems.

WHERE is the class?
At the Humane Society of Broward County, 2070 Griffin Road, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312 (1 block west of I-95)
WHEN is the class?
Classes are available Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. There are six classes total, which includes an hour and a half (1 1/2) orientation without your dog. All attendees must attend orientation on the selected date-- this is mandatory!
WHO is invited?
Dogs 5 months of age or older. All dogs must be current on vaccines and wearing a rabies tag. All dogs must be spayed or neutered. Classes are limited to 10 dogs.
WHAT should I bring to class?
TO THE FIRST CLASS BRING NOTHING! DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG! For lessons 2 through 6, bring a 6 foot leash, water and water bowl, treats your dog really likes, and a bored, hungry dog!
HOW do I register?
You may return your completed registration form, proof of vaccinations and a check to the Humane Society of Broward County, Attention: Education Department, 2070 Griffin Road, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312.
HOW much?
A minimum donation of $50.00 for dogs adopted from a shelter, pitbulls and pitbull mixes and $95.00 for all other dogs. Remember the Humane Society is funded solely by donations and your contribution will help the homeless animals in our care. Sorry, we cannot reserve a spot without payment. There are no refunds after the first class.
We will send you a confirmation letter with the beginning date of class as soon as it is available. Sometimes it will be several weeks before we can enroll you in our next class.
