Since 1996, the Humane Society of Broward County has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County to teach respect, kindness and responsibility to our animal friends. Children attending the clubs often times are from low income areas and have only been exposed to dogs kept on chains or dog fighting. We want to teach / show these children that dogs, cats and other pets can be friendly, social and being enriching to our lives.
Currently, we hold four major events each year that the children can attend to gain positive hands-on experience with animals. The HSBC feels this partnership is one of its most important. The changes and progress they have seen in these children is amazing. Kids that were once petrified to be in the same room as a dog now look forward to playing and spending time with them instead! We plan to continue this rewarding partnership for a lifetime!
